Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother
Joann (Capasso) Ferris, age 76, earned her wings to fly home to be with God on January 1, 2025 surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her daughter's home. She was the beloved wife of Jeffery Ferris, who was the love of her life.
Born on November 9, 1948, in the Bronx, NY, Joann was the daughter of the late Josephine and Joseph Capasso.
Joann will always be remembered for her spunky ways, her cheese doodles, her E-cig, and her "wooden spoon". Her favorite past times were playing bingo, going to the casino, ceramics with her daughter "Annie", and baking cheesecakes and cookies for her family. The highlight of her day was watching Family Feud because "Steve Harvey is sharp in them suits", cuddling with her dogs Josie and Joe, eating her bologna sandwiches, and having her coffee!
Joann is survived by three children, Annamarie Fraioli'Borges & her son-in -law Lonté with whom she resided and who cared, loved, and nurtured her through her last days; her only son Dominick Fraioli (Nancy) and her daughter Rosemarie (John). Joann is also survived by her only granddaughter Kaitlyn Romano (Jason); her grandsons, Thomas Romano (Veronica) Brandon Romano, Jamil Lawrence Jr. (Jazmine), Jonathen Fraioli, William & Genia Stanescki, Oona Hennessey, Michael Raymond (Angie) and their son Michael, and one great grandson, Jiovanni Sage Romano, who was the apple of her eye!
Joann also leaves behind a brother Ronald Capasso (Brenda); three godchildren, Catherine Florio, Keith Clarke and Zackary Plant; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as her PCA's Lillian Hunter, Noelia Nunez and her APRN Gretha Lewis'Hardy; and her two dogs she shared with her daughter Josie and Joe. She loved them all very much. She is predeceased by her granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Romano and her younger brother Joseph Capasso.
Anna & Lonté would like to thank all the Vita Care staff who came out to the home and to the staff on the 4th floor at St. Mary's Hospital for all the care comfort and support they gave Joann & them during the last days.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 from 2:30 – 4:00pm with a service from 4:00 – 4:30pm at Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
