JoAnn Fletcher Obituary

The daughter of Leland and Lula (Quist) Hawkins, JoAnn was born May 30, 1933 in Mansfield.
JoAnn married Richard "Dick" Fletcher on April 9, 1955. The two attended high school together and shared 69 years of marriage.
She received her X-Ray Technician Certification from The Ohio State University. JoAnn enjoyed her work as an x-ray technician, working for Dr. Schamas, Stastney, Auchard, and Gibson: later becoming Mansfield Orthopedic Surgeons.
JoAnn was an accomplished seamstress. She designed wedding gowns, formal dresses, three piece suites, and other outfits. She had worked for Togliatti's in Mansfield.
There is no doubt she had a strong love for horses. JoAnn spent hours and hours training, riding and competing in dressage exhibitions. She also received the Century Ride Club Award. Awarded when the age of the rider and horse total 100. JoAnn won the award at 75 years old.
She was a member of Pleasant Grove Community Church. She will be remembered for her love of children and horses.
She is survived by her children Kim (Debbie) Fletcher of Shelby, Mark Fletcher of Lexington, and Colleen (Jack) Turner of Bellville; grandchildren Ryan (Gwen) Fletcher, Eric (Amy) Fletcher, Stacy (Bill) Riley, Denise (Eric) Matson, and Brock (Christine) Turner; great grandchildren Ella, Zane, Myles, and Jack Fletcher, Kaylee and Zac Mitchell, Jessie Turner, Logan (Kim) Matson, Emily Matson, Alyssa Riley, and Aaron Riley, Kevin, Jessica and Collin; 15 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dick" Fletcher, brother Robert Hawkins and sister Sondra Lynch.
A memorial service celebrating JoAnn's life will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 2:30 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where her visitation will be held from 1-2:30 pm. Celebrant Jerry Wilson will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
