JOANN C. HERMELING

JoAnn Hermeling of Okawville, IL departed this life in the Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville, IL on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 10:45 P.M. She had attained the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 1 day.

JoAnn was born in Centralia, IL on July 2, 1948, the daughter of Waldemar and Dorothy (nee Hagemeyer) Hermeling. She was a 1966 graduate of Okawville High School.

After graduating from high school, JoAnn worked at the Moran Shoe Factory in Carlyle, IL and then at the Langenfeld Hat Factory in Mascoutah, IL. Later on, JoAnn obtained her insurance license and was an agent at Washington County Mutual Insurance in Addieville until her retirement. JoAnn loved music and played the tenor sax in the Venedy Band for several years. She was also a member of the Thursday Night Thunder dulcimer group. JoAnn enjoyed fishing, spending time in nature and going out with her friends. She especially loved following her nephew and nieces in their school activities, and later her great nieces and great nephews in their school and sporting endeavors. JoAnn was a lifelong and faithful member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville.

Left to mourn her passing is a sister, Marcella Lueking and husband Don of Hoffman, IL; one nephew, Doug Lueking and wife Sheila of Hoffman; two nieces, Kerri Beal and husband Jon of Hoffman, and Jennifer Seaton and husband Eric of Okawville; six great nieces and nephews, Shana Yowell and husband Hank, Drew Lueking, Evan and Garret Beal, and Morgan and Dylan Seaton; numerous cousins, as well as many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held from the Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville, IL on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11 A.M. with Rev Bill Groennert officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at the Zion United Church of Christ on Monday from 9 A.M. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Okawville High School Music Department or to the Zion United Church of Christ and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
