Joann Howard, lovingly known as “Granny” or “Jo Baby,” was born on June 2, 1945, in Glasgow, Kentucky, and peacefully entered eternal rest on September 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Joann was the beloved sister of William Guy West and a devoted mother to her daughters, Quenna (Jimmie) Odle-Wash and Neysa Howard, as well as a cherished god-son, Webster (Kim) Campbell. Her greatest blessings were her grandchildren: Shaunte, Simyon (Jeff), Arias, Kie’ara, Tiana, and Juwan, along with eight precious great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jackie and Joyce; her son, Donald Kevin; and her grandson, Donald Jalen.
Raised in Glasgow, Joann married and later moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, at the young age of 21. She dedicated 30 years of hard work to Wonder Bread, retiring on December 23, 1999. Never one to stay idle, she went on to serve as a child care provider for several years, touching the lives of many families.
Joann gave her life to Christ at an early age and faithfully served as a member of Jesus Saves Church before later joining New Beginnings Fellowship Church. A true jack of all trades, she delighted in interior decorating, craftsmanship, and ministry work alongside her sister Joyce. She was a caregiver at heart, opening her home to those in need and offering love and shelter to the homeless.
Her relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of her life, and her pride and joy was her family. Granny’s warm spirit, unwavering faith, and generous heart leave an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM CT on Saturday, September 27,2025, at Brooks Funeral Home. A Graveside service will follow at the Woodsonville Memorial Gardens on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 2:30 PM CT, with Rev. Webster Campbell officiating.
