JoAnn passed away on April 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. Although the last four months of her life was full of struggles, she never lost her sense of humor and ability to laugh.
She was born on November 23, 1941, in Mount Pleasant Utah. Her parents were Harold and Arda Bigler Rasmussen, and siblings, Steve, Karen, Scott, and Val. She grew up with her family in North Ogden and loved to tell fun stories of her childhood.
JoAnn married Gene Meibos on November 8, 1968. and together they had six children, Clay Meibos, Margene (Ace) Calder, Dale Meibos, Mindy (Russell) Schulmire, Blake Meibos, and Cara (Casey) Stanger. They were later sealed together as a family in the Ogden Temple. JoAnn worked as a school cook for over 25 years at West Weber Elementary, back when the food was made from scratch. She enjoyed being a cook and especially bantering with the staff as they came to get their lunches. For many years JoAnn would get up extra early to milk cows with her husband before going to work and she often said she wouldn't trade that time working alongside her husband for anything. She loved helping her husband on the dairy farm and during corn cutting season would even drive the big trucks after work to help haul the chopped corn from the fields.
JoAnn loved to laugh and often said that's what got her through tough times. She always had a sense of humor, loved to tease back and forth with her family and friends, and had no problem saying what she thought. She loved people and could start a conversation with a perfect stranger whether she was at a grocery store or opening her front door to someone new. She could even strike up a conversation with someone on the phone who called the wrong number.
Her greatest joy in life was her family. Her sweet husband of 54 years was the love of her life and she made sure everyone knew it. In addition to her six children, she had 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, and she cherished and loved each one. All the grandchildren called her "Granny" and she knew how to be silly and fun. She made sure no one left the house without plenty of food to eat, drinks from the fridge, and of course, hugs and kisses for the road. She made everyone feel loved and welcomed. She always had stories to tell and was an amazing cook, especially when it came to making her homemade rolls.
JoAnn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Her faith was very important to her, and she cherished the times going to the temple. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents and her sons Dale and Blake.
"To our beautiful wife, mother, and granny we love you so very much, we miss you greatly, and will keep your smile and laughter in our hearts forever. We know we will be together again."
A viewing will be held in her honor on Friday, April 21st, at the West Warren Church, 856 N. 5900 W., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by a private graveside service.
Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary, 845 Washington Blvd.,
