JoAnn N. Panter, 76 died peacefully at her home, Tuesday June 26, 2012. She was born June 29, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to William J and Edna G Nelson. She married Charles J. Panter in December 1953 and 10 years later their marriage was solemnized for time and eternity in the Logan Temple. She met Chuck, the love of her life while attending Wahlquist Jr. High. Their love continued to flourish while attending Weber High School and is still everlasting. JoAnn lived her entire life in Ogden Utah. She enjoyed life to the fullest with her wonderful family and was proud of their many accomplishments. She was heavily involved in all aspects of their lives including little league and dance recitals. Her devotion and support of recreational activities carried over to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her job at Powder Mountain and recently retired after 40 years. She enjoyed her many friends and adopted family and was deemed "The Powder Mountain Matriarch." Many have said she and Chuck were the heart and soul of Powder Mountain. Her voice will forever remain in our memories. JoAnn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in the Relief Society as a visiting teacher. She also served in the Young Womens Organization and received the Rose of Camp Lomondi. She loved her circle of close church friends. She was passionate for outdoor sports, golf, and skiing. In 1994, she received the Angel Award for outstanding service for Ski Patrol. Other achievements include the Intermountain Ski Area Association Award for her contribution to further the sport of skiing. In 2010, JoAnn received a Lifetime Appreciation Award for her exceptional work at Powder Mountain. JoAnn is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Judy (Lonnie) Delzer, Shug (Richard) Sowers, Curt (Elizabeth) Panter; 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Surviving brothers and sisters include: Jerry (Barbara) Nelson, Phyllis (Keith) Taylor, Brent (Pat) Nelson, and Dennis (Annie) Nelson. She is preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, and her son Charles Randy. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 30th 2:00 pm at the Burch Creek First Ward Chapel located at 5161 South 1300 East in Ogden. Friends may call Saturday June 30th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at the church. Burial in the Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park. Please send us your condolences and a memory at www.leavittsmortuary.com
