Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. JoAnn Pickering, 74, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 17, 2024, at McClendon Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, with Dr. Kevin Stewart and Rev. James Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
JoAnn was born May 13, 1949, in Ruston, LA, to Ralph and Azoline Rhodes and passed away February 15, 2024, in West Monroe, LA.
JoAnn was a member of McClendon Baptist Church since 1986 serving her lord and savior and ministering to others through multiple roles. JoAnn loved her church community, and she had a special place in her heart for her Sunday school classes, and choir group.
JoAnn continued to serve her community being a lifelong volunteer of the Miss Louisiana Pageant. She also served on the board as Treasurer of the local Alzheimer’s Organization. She was also a member of The Pilot Club of the Twin Cities in which she served as president, treasurer, and Louisiana District Governor.
JoAnn truly had the biggest heart. Her children and grandchildren were her absolute greatest treasures. Throughout her life she touched so many lives through her careers such as a teacher, banker, realtor, and investment advisor. To know JoAnn was to love her.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Azoline Rhodes.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Paul Pickering, Jr.; her children, Trey Pickering and his wife, Leslie, and Ginny Bonnette; grandchildren, Blake Bonnette, Marli Chaffe (Harper), Lainy Jones, Jenna Jones, and Isabella Bonnette; sister, Cathy Reed (Al); brothers, Ralph Rhodes (June) and Steven Rhodes (Sherrie); her brother-in-law, Steve Pickering (Gail); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Russell Reed, Harper Chaffe, Blake Bonnette, Steve Pickering, Jr., Brett Pickering, and Marty Underwood.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the ladies of the Pilot Club of the Twin Cities.
Memorials may be made to McClendon Baptist Church Youth Ministry or Pilot Club of the Twin Cities.
