Mrs. JoAnn Iris Ransom, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Ravenna, Michigan on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on May 25, 1938 to Jay and Viola (Landon) Evans. JoAnn married Vernon S. Ransom on November 28, 1953 and they enjoyed 66 years prior to his passing in 2019. In her younger years, while living in California, JoAnn worked at a toy store that Glen Campbell visited once a week with his children. After moving to Ravenna, JoAnn was a dedicated employee at Borns Market for 18 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, catering, and spending time with her grandchildren. JoAnn is survived by two sons, Dale (Vicki) Ransom and Mark Ransom; four daughters, Cindy Ransom, Verna Graves, Tina (Dennis) Carlson and Cheryl (Norman) VanderLaan; 18 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and two siblings, Eugene Evans and Wanda (Lynn) Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon; son-in-law, Rick Graves; and seven siblings, Bernard Evans, Darrell Evans, Bill Evans, Jim Evans, John Evans, and Corrine "Sis" Kroening. SERVICES will be 12:00 PM Friday, October 17, 2025 at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St., Ravenna, Michigan 49451. VISITATION will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in Moorland Township Cemetery. Memorials in memory of JoAnn may be directed to the Harbor Hospice Foundation.
