JoAnn (Caruso, Mark) Rochleau of Carver formerly of the West End Boston, Dorchester and Stoughton passed away on Saturday, January 18th, after a long battle with lung cancer.
She was born in East Cambridge, MA on Oct. 18, 1949. Daughter of the late Helen Strazzulla Caruso and Antonio Caruso. Granddaughter of the late Margaret Megna Strazzulla Martino and Anthony Strazzulla, the late Vincenzo and Lucia Caruso. Former wife of the late David A Mark.
She is survived by her loving husband Bob, her beloved son Christopher Alan Mark and his wife Ann Marie (Lank) Mark from Braintree. Her very talented and precious grandchildren Cameron Robert Mark and Elliana Marie Mark, her furry animal Butterscotch and her animal grandbabies Marty and Sonny (Samo). Aunt Maureen Strazzulla, her late husband Sonny (Domenico) and their late daughter Diane M Strazzulla Borgatti of Medway, her estranged sister Marie Caruso of Middleboro. niece Melissa Black of RI, nephews Nick and Eric of Florida. Her great nephews Vincent and Asher of Florida. Her late Aunt Theresa and Uncle Robert Porcaro of Somerville, cousins Bobby, Debbie, Joey of Somerville and Florida. Her fun loving and helpful stepson Randy Rochleau of Haverhill and his daughters Kelsey and Jaylin Rochleau, stepdaughters Rena Bissonette and Greta Rochleau of Alabama and Cote of Sandwich, MA.
Her husband Bob was her rock and she couldn't have gotten through her final journey without him. They were together for 25 years and had a full and loving marriage. They went on many trips together especially renting cottages in Maine, NH and a special trip to Canada and Niagara Falls, which they both thoroughly enjoyed and loved. The bus ride to the vineyards in Ontario on the Lake, Ontario Canada. The highlight our many trips was the trip to Las Vegas 2008, they exchanged wedding vows at the Grace Wedding Chapel. It was magical and spectacular, the dinner afterwards was at the Stratosphere.
She loved baking with and for her grandchildren, she always baked special cookies for them on their birthdays and when they were younger she enjoyed making breakfast special for them, when they stayed overnight. She had a special prize closet that she would have for them choose a prize whoever slept through the night. She also enjoyed going fishing with Bob, Cam and Ellie to the no name pond in the Village where they lived. Also taking Ellie shopping and taking Cam to the Plymouth Airport.
Family was everything to her. She wished she could have spent more time with them but her illness kept her from being as active as wanted. She made the best of the time she had by taking Cam to Plane Jane's in Plymouth to see the planes take off and land and have lunch. She was so happy to be at one of Ellie's basketball games where Ellie threw a buzzer beater and won the game. She also loved being at Ellie and Cam's first dance recital together where they both made the audience erupt in applause. She was very proud of her grandchildren's accomplishments. Especially proud of the life that Chris and Ann made for their family.
She was a 1967 graduate of Stoughton High School and at the IBM school of Boston, she also attended Massasoit Community College.
She worked for over 10 years at the former Hills Dept. Stores main office in Boston and Canton as a Data Entry Operator before taking a trip to Las Vegas in the early 70s, where she worked for a local newspaper the Las Vegas Review Journal. In 1973 she moved back and resumed her job at Hills Dept. Stores in Canton.
She married in 1978 and had Christopher in 1980 which thrilled her. She was very happy knowing she was going to be a mother and began the life of caregiver, nurturer and hopefully make an impression on that little life she took great care to give birth to. Although he had few physical problems in his early years, she did the best at getting him treated with love and care.
In the early 80s she worked part time for Battelle Ocean Sciences in Duxbury and Stanley Steemer in Manomet. She also began to work at the Old Colony Memorial in Plymouth where she became a self-taught Graphic Designer for 13 years.
In the late 90s, she worked for Bradlees in Kingston and Old Colony Memorial in Plymouth!
Her proudest moment, which there many, was when her son met and married Ann and they had their family and watched that family grow and flourish.
In 2000 she met the love of her life and began the final half of her life with Bob. He made her very happy, made her laugh and made her cry and wore funny hats. He even had the women in his office tell her he was harmless.
Of course he was exactly that!
We were each other's everything until the end!
In 2010 she became a grandmother for the first time and that was the pinnacle of the life she had envisioned for herself. Being a grandmother was the biggest extension of herself that she could achieve. Cameron was a preemie at 2 lbs. 15 oz. he was a fighter and with the help and promise of special cookies on his birthday he flourished and thrived into a healthy wonderful young boy! He began working at age 15 for a legal office, belonging to the Scouts Organization and working as an alter server at his church!
Once again in 2012 she became grandmother to Elliana Marie. She was a beautiful baby girl who is flourishing at softball and basketball!
