Joanna Karen Cooper (Peters), 57, of Stanford, peacefully passed into eternity at her home on Saturday, October 18th surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on September 22, 1968, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Joseph Peters and Jane (Blevins) Peters, both of whom she has joyfully reunited with in heaven.
Joanna was the personification of unconditional love and generosity. Her kindness and compassion were endlessly bestowed upon family, friends, strangers and critters alike. She was known to offer a warm meal, a place to stay, a helping hand, a kind word or hug, or take in a stray without hesitation – and did so without judgment, an expectation of reciprocation, or praise. She doled out motherly-love to us all, and we are each blessed to carry on her legacy.
Those left to celebrate her life are her life-partner, Richard Asberry, her daughters, Mikaila (Antonio) Cooper & Amber Cooper, her sisters, Shannan Hooker & Lisa (Rick) Garriques, her brother Darrin (Sandy) Peters, grandsons Brantley Snow, Joseph Cooper, and Kashton Thompson, and granddaughters Serenity Hurt and Clara Faye Paige, as well as a host of extended family and friends – all of whom will miss her dearly.
Services for Joanna will be held on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, at Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford, beginning with visitation at 4 pm, until the time of the funeral service at 6 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in honor of Joanna and her beloved dog, Camo, via PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/lincolncountyanimals.
