Joanna Ruth Wehrman, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. Born on May 27, 1936, into a family with a rich missionary heritage, Joanna dedicated her life to faith, family, and service. She was married to the late Winston Andrew Wehrman for 60 loving years, and together they answered the call to serve as missionaries in Papua New Guinea for 25 years. During that time, they raised three daughters and made a lasting impact on the communities they served.
Joanna was a registered nurse, known for her deep faith, warm heart, and tireless commitment to spreading God's word. Alongside her husband, she devoted herself to the mission field, helping to bring health, hope, and love to those in need. Her kindness and unwavering dedication left a lasting legacy in the hearts of many.
In addition to her parents, Joanna is preceded in death by her husband, Winston Andrew Wehrman; her daughter, Brenda Sue Wehrman; her granddaughter, Samantha Grace Schuler; her sister, Lenita Bustin; and her brothers, Charles Bustin and Paul Bustin.
Joanna is survived by her daughters, Katherine Dendler (Wesley) and RuthAnn Winters (Scott); her grandchildren, Andrew McKean (Rachael), Christina Schuler (Nathan), David Dendler, Jonathan Dendler, Esther Dendler, and Mary Beth Winters; and her greatgrandchildren, Christina Schuler, Ethan Schuler, Gavin Schuler, Levi Schuler, Dietrich Schuler, Andrew Hayden Mckean, Jackson Mckean, and Sophia Mckean. She is also survived by her sister, Claudine Chamberlin, and her brother, Gerald Bustin (Roana). Joanna's family will forever cherish her wisdom, her prayers and her loving spirit. Her influence will continue through the generations she so deeply nurtured and loved.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 29, at Community Family Church, located at 11875 Taylor Mill Road, Independence, KY 41051. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 PM.
Joanna's family expresses their gratitude for the prayers, love, and support they've received during this time of remembrance and reflection.
