Joanne Larimer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hackman Family Funeral Homes - Rosenberg Chapel on May 5, 2025.
Joanne Eileen Larimer, 74, of Centreville, Michigan passed away at her home on the morning of May 2nd, 2025.
Joanne was born on May 1st, 1951, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Ray and Betty (Fohl) Goetz.
Joanne grew up in New Jersey until she moved away to attend Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she met her future husband, John.
On September 9th, 1978, she married John Larimer at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis, Michigan, to which she became a resident of the city until 2006 when she and John moved permanently to Centreville. Their mutual love for "Lake Life" led them to relocate to Lake Templene.
Joanne retired from the St. Joseph County Courthouse after working 19 years as a Diversion Caseload Officer in the Juvenile Department.
Joanne loved playing the piano, sunset cruises on the pontoon, and telling stories of when she would go into "The City" (New York City) while growing up. She also never failed to share the fun memory of her secretly attending the Woodstock music festival in 1969. Joanne could be found in the bleachers of her kid's and grandkid's sporting events, where she was often seen cheering with "The Mommas" who would become lifelong friends.
Joanne is survived by her husband of 47 years, John Larimer, of Centreville, her daughter Nicole Larimer-Gill (married to Alexander Gill), of Sturgis, their children Annabelle, Alex, and Adlee; her son Nathan Larimer, of Sturgis, his daughter Makenna; and her son Adam Larimer of New Braunfels, Texas. She is survived by her sister Kathy Burdick of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her brother Regis Goetz (married to Anne Goetz) of Kentwood, Michigan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents.
In honoring Joanne's wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Friday, May 16th at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Road in Sturgis. A Funeral Mass celebrating the life of Joanne Larimer will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 17th at St. Clare Catholic Church in Centreville. The Rev Father Mathias will officiate.
