Surrounded by family, Joanne "Jill" Heitman Montgomery, 82, of Indiana Township and formerly
of Fox Chapel, passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2025. She was the beloved wife of
John B. Montgomery for 57 years and mother to Kristen Chase Stadtlander of MA, Molly (Peter
Lee) Montgomery of MA, and Kate (John) Goldsmith of NJ. Jill is also survived by her brother,
Jay Heitman of Wilmette, IL, and her grandchildren, Linden, Ella, and Reed Stadtlander, as well
as Eve, Colin, and Peter Goldsmith.
Jill grew up in Wilmette, Illinois, and attended New Trier High School, where she formed lifelong
friendships. She met John at McMurray College, and they settled in Pittsburgh, becoming active
members of the Fox Chapel Racquet Club and Ross Mountain Club. They cherished their
wonderful summers as members of these communities.
An avid reader with a natural curiosity, Jill fostered a love of reading in her children. Her
generous spirit and warmth allowed her to connect with anyone; she had a wonderful sense of
humor and made others feel at ease, even as her memory faded in later years. Jill's deep love
for family and friends will be dearly missed.
Visitation for family and friends will be on September 28th, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Simons
Funeral Home, Inc., 7720 Perry Hwy, Pgh, PA 15237. Instead of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation or
the American Heart Association.
