Joanne C. Parlapiano, 88, of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion.
A lifelong city resident she was born on July 23, 1936 to her loving parents, the late Joseph and Pasqualina Parlapiano. She was the beloved sister to Eleanor Parlapiano and the late Gloria Coager, and Mary Frederick. Joanne dedicated her career to General Electric in Schenectady, NY until her retirement, and later selflessly took on caregiving roles for her mother and sisters, Mary and Eleanor.
Joanne had a passion for traveling, gardening, and spending time at the casinos-activities that brought her joy and adventure. She is survived by her sister Eleanor; loving nephew Jason Green; and a cherished family including nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-nephew. Her love and care for her family and friends will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church with The Very Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis E.V. as celebrant. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery, Amsterdam
