Joanne Basso Sanderford, age 90, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025. She was born in Yonkers, New York, in 1934 to the late Joseph and Stella Recore Basso and was a lifelong resident of Metairie, Louisiana.

Joanne attended Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, New York, and later became a flight attendant for Eastern Airlines in the early 1950s. She went on to teach grammar school at St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie. Joanne enjoyed studying the Bible, gardening, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Hugh B. Sanderford Sr.; her brother, Joseph Basso Jr.; and her grandson, Michael Corcoran.

Joanne is survived by her children, Hugh Britton Sanderford Jr. (Sheila), Beth Corcoran (David), Ryan Sanderford (Michelle), and Amy Hutcherson; her grandchildren, Hugh "Brice" Sanderford (Adele), Shelby Dabelich (John), Spencer Sanderford, Blake Sanderford, Stephen Corcoran (Meagan), and Bergen Sanderford; and her great-grandchildren, Hugh "Hughes" Sanderford and Lucie Sanderford. She is also survived by a niece and a nephew.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, Louisiana 70001. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Catholic Mass at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will take place immediately after the services.
