Joanne M. (Baumgartner) Schuster, 78, of Medford, passed away at Aspirus Palliative Care in Wausau on Thursday, October 2, 2025 with family by her side.

Joanne was born in Medford on July 25, 1947 to the late Francis "Frank" and Frances (Gaab) Baumgartner. She grew up in the area and graduated from Medford Senior High. On January 16, 1970, she married Lee D. "Fox" Schuster.

Joanne worked at Northwestern Mutual in Milwaukee for ten years, then returned to Medford and held positions at Weather Shield, Bach Electric, Kwik Trip, and Ace Hardware.

Joanne enjoyed her family and home, camping, feeding and watching the birds. Cardinals were her favorite. Her pet dogs, especially her faithful canine companion, Buddy, brought her much joy.

Survivors include her son, Matthew of Medford; her brother, Michael (Cathy) Baumgartner of Wausau, and many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Lee "Fox" in 2019; her siblings, Gerald, Robert, Patricia (Henry) Deml and David; and her grandson Maxwell Schuster.

A graveside service for Joanne will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, October 15 at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Medford. Following the service, please join the family for a celebration of Joanne's life at the Holy Rosary Social Hall in Medford. Lunch will be served during the celebration.
