Joanne Gloria Voeltz, born on February 27, 1938, on the family farm in Johnson Township, Polk County, passed away peacefully at her home in rural Oklee, Minnesota, on February 8, 2025.
Funeral Service for Joanne will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 23 2025 at the RLCC High School in Oklee, MN with Eric Mickelson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the school. Burial will be held at Valle Cemetery near the family home rural Trail, MN.
Joanne was the daughter of Ole and Lillian (Sordahl) Loiland. She graduated from Oklee High School in 1956 and after high school she attended teachers training and taught at various rural schools. Joanne married Vernon Wesley Voeltz on August 10, 1957, at Valle Church near Trail, Minnesota. Joanne dedicated 44 years to the Oklee school district as a para-professional, where she held various teaching roles and touched the lives of countless students.
Joanne found great joy in gardening, baking, and tending to her flowers. She had a deep love for children and cherished time spent with her husband, sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Voeltz; son Larry Voeltz; grandchildren Travis (Brandie) Voeltz and Ryan (Shanna) Voeltz; and great-grandchildren Taelynn Voeltz, Devin Voeltz, Waylon Voeltz, Addlynn Voeltz, Isabella Seyller, Ellie Seyller, Aubrey Seyller, Carter Seyller, Cynthia Voeltz, and Trey Audette. Sisters-in-Law Sylvia Flateland and Shirley Voeltz. She also held a special place in her heart for the Walter and Shirley Vettleson family.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Ole and Lillian Loiland; son Ronnie Voeltz; sister Carla (George) Johnson; brother Gordy (Verna) Loiland; sister-in-law Elaine "Perry" Loiland; brother-in-law Howard Flateland; father-in-law Otto Voeltz; mother- and father-in-law Grace and John Ratkovec; sister-in-law Ruthie Patch; and sister- and brother-in-law Deloris and Steve Lopez.
Joanne's kindness and dedication to family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
