LEHIGH ACRES, FLORIDA –
Joanne C. (Pelletier) Weagle, 78, of Lehigh Acres FL, passed away on May 2, 2023, peacefully at home with her sister Janice and daughters by her side. (Thank you for that Aunt Janice, you were monumental in creating it a soft peaceful experience for us)
Born in Los Angeles CA to parents Rita and George Pelletier on July 5, 1944. She was married to Clarence (Sonny) Weagle Jr. for 61+ years.
Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Sonny, sister Shirley, sister Theresa, and sister Ann along with both of her parents.
She is survived by her 8 children. Listed in order of birth: Clarence III (Sonny) of Sebastian FL, David of Amarillo TX, Helen of Troy NY, Alan of Denton TX, Kevin of Carlisle PA, Vickie of Sebastian FL, Robin of Lehigh Acres FL, Jill of Augusta GA. She is also survived by her sister Janice, sister Sandra and brother John. Joanne adored her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. As well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was known by the ones who loved her most as Grammy, Nan, Auntie Jo, and Jo Jo.
She lived in Massachusetts, California, Rhode Island, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and her final years appropriately in Florida.
Joanne's greatest love was her family, and all her children were proud to call her mom. She was a stay-at-home mom; her 8 children were born within 10 years. For many of those years she had 3 babies in diapers at the same time, so she had no time for hobbies or relaxing activities. As you can imagine, the day her youngest started school was a monumental day in her life and she had it planned out hour after hour (yes there were cocktails included).
With such a large family Joanne would cook like she was feeding an army and always had extra for any drop in guests. Her specialties included her American Chop Suey, Meat Pie, Spaghetti Sauce (loaded with beef, chicken, and pork), Smoked Brisket, and her flaky pie crusts.
Joanne LOVED to sing, she would sing loud and proud. We will all be able to hear her belting out songs by the women of Country Music like Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, and Donna Fargo. Her most memorable songs are "Delta Dawn" and "Harper Valley PTA". As she passed, we played the songs, held her hands, and sang her into peace. She and her husband loved to go out dancing in Honky Tonks in Amarillo Texas, it was such a joy to see them on the dance floor two-stepping for hours on end. They also joined a square dance group for a few years and proudly wore the matching outfits as they stomped around with their friends.
She will be greatly missed but leaves the legacy of devoted motherhood in her daughters and granddaughters.
In accordance with Joanne's wishes, she will be cremated. Simple Choices, Inc. overseeing the arrangements.
All arrangements are private at the convenience of the family.
