Jody Hunt
Oskaloosa. Jody Hunt, age 62, of Oskaloosa, Iowa passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her home under the care of MHP Hospice of Oskaloosa. Jody was born on December 14, 1962, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Ovid and Verda (Masterson) Kirby. She attended Oskaloosa High School where she met the "love of her life". She was united in marriage to Randy Hunt on September 18, 1982, in Oskaloosa.
Jody worked many jobs over the years, but her favorite job was taking care of her grandbabies. Jody had a love for horses, and with her green thumb just like her mother, she loved plants and could bring life back to all the plants her daughters managed to kill. She loved to boot-scoot-n-boogie, and to do the "twist". Jody was always down to having a good time.
She is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Randy, her children: Nicole (Chad) Armbruster; Amanda (Elijah)Hunt; and Tyler (Amanda) Hunt, all of Oskaloosa; nine grandchildren: Loghan Hunt, Colton Stout, Cale Armbruster, Jace Armbruster, Aysica Morrow, Jaxtin Hunt, Jonah Williams, Jada Hunt and Jordyn Hunt; two great-grandchildren: Lincoln and Lennon Hargrave; a brother, Dennis Kirby of Oskaloosa; four sisters, Sue (Gary) Gerard of Oskaloosa, Roxanne (Dave) Bahnsen of Coralville, Tammy Sparks of Oskaloosa, and Lisa Evans of Oskaloosa; her mother in law, Shirley Hunt of Oskaloosa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Randy Kirby and Stanley Kirby; a grandson Tyce Williams; a brother-in-law Dennis Hunt; a niece Jen Kokke and her dog Lily.
As was Jody's wish, her body was cremated. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the New Hope Free Methodist Church in Oskaloosa with Reverend Charlie McMillian officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Visitation will be held two hours before the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church with the family present. Bates Funeral chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
