Jody Smith Obituary
Jody is going to be missed by his son, Jordan Smith (Crisel); grandchildren, Gage Branhan, Zander Branhan, and Jason Phengsavathdy Smith; sister, Rose Beaker, several loving nieces , as well as great nieces and great nephews.
Jody was born in Savannah and was preceded in death by his daughter, Joy Yvonne Smith; parents, Howard E. Smith and Frances Bradford Smith; brothers, Jerry Howard Smith and Donald Smith. Jody attended high school at Tompkins and was a high school baseball star, holding the Georgia state home run record until 1997. He then went on to play college baseball at Armstrong State College, and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1979. His family has been in the septic tank business for 75 years and Jody was the former owner/operator of Savannah Septic Tank Service. He will be remembered for loving cats, and for his warm, kind, and generous heart. Through Jody's generosity, several other people's lives have been changed since Jody was an organ donor.
Jody's wishes were to be cremated with no public service.
