Jody Dee Spence, 72, of Hamlet, was called home on Friday, August 22, 2025.

She was born August 20, 1953, in Rocky Mount, NC, daughter of the late David Ashby Spence and Mildred Higson Spence. Born with a vibrant spirit and a heart for helping others, Jody dedicated her life to caring for people. She began working in healthcare at the young age of 15 and went on to serve as a nurse for many years, touching countless lives with her compassion and dedication.

Jody will be remembered for her quirky, fun-loving personality. She proudly referred to herself as "the princess", a title her family and friends knew suited her well. She often embraced her inner, magical mermaid, delighting those around her with her playful charm. Whether she was singing off-key at the top of her lungs or making those around her laugh, Jody had a gift for bringing joy and commanding any room she entered.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mildred Spence; her son, Brent Knorr; and her sister, Cynthia Gardner.

Jody was blessed with a loving family. She is survived by her daughter, Brandy Curtis (Michael) of Rockingham; sisters, Denise "Druscilla" Allen and Lou Winette Fitts; grandchildren, Garrett Ammons, Katie Curtis, Alyssa Curtis, and Ona Knorr; daughter-in-law, Betsy Fleury; and her four-legged companion, Gypsy.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, beginning at 6:00pm, in the chapel of Harrington Funeral Home, Hamlet, with the Reverend Randy Bishop officiating.

Jody's legacy of care, humor, magic, and love will live on through her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
