Waynesville, Jody Dale Ward, born March 15, 1979, in Haywood County, left this world on October 20, 2024, at Atrium Health, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. He was a cherished husband, father, son, brother, friend, whose passion for life was evident to everyone who knew him.
For several years, Jody dedicated himself to the education system, working with Haywood County Schools and ultimately becoming the Facility Manager at Tuscola High School. However, his heart was truly bound to his role as a coach of the Volleyball and Baseball teams at Tuscola. Through these positions, he inspired countless young athletes with his unwavering spirit and genuine care for their growth, both on and off the field. Jody's students and players transformed into his extended family, and he took immense pride in mentoring them.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Jody had a zest for life that was infectious. He enjoyed music and often found joy in attending concerts, where melodies echoed the love, he held for life. Jody’s love for Balsam Range turned him into their #1 fan. He was a devoted Clemson fan. His enthusiasm extended to racing and golfing, embodying the thrill of competition even in moments of defeat – a quirky memory included losing swimming races to his beloved wife, Casey. Together, they made memories that will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who knew them, particularly during peaceful sunset cruises on the lake, where time seemed to stand still, and love flourished.
Jody’s laughter and warmth filled every room. He was affectionately known as "The most athletic 5’10” round man," a title that reflected his humor and passion for athletics. As a devoted member of Calvary Road Baptist Church, he drew strength from his faith, which guided him in loving those closest to him.
He married his favorite person on November 23, 2023, his beloved wife, Casey Ray Ward, with whom he shared a great love and a beautiful life. Jody leaves behind his three treasured children: daughter Makaleh Ward, and sons Jacob and Owen Ward. He is also mourned by his father, James Ward, who is partnered with Tami; his mother, Rita Bolin, and her partner, Wayne; his sister, Tabitha Bolin; and his brother, Hunter Bolin. Additionally, Jody is honored by his two brother-in-laws, Houston Roberts (Amy) and Walker Roberts (Wild Freeborn), and his beloved father and mother-in-law, Ray and Connie Roberts. He is also survived by several loving cousins, extended family, and dear friends who were blessed to have crossed paths with him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Calvary Road Baptist Church, located at 2701 Soco Rd, Maggie Valley, NC 28751.
