Joe Henry Baucom, 90, of Monroe, NC died on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. He was born in Union County, NC on June 27, 1935, son to the late Winfred Baucom and Faye Rushing Baucom. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Hilton Baucom.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30PM until 2:45PM in the church fellowship hall.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Gail Mullis Baucom, their three daughters, Delisa Baucom (Jim), Wendy Griffin (Lane), and Tracey Jo McInnis (David), son, Seth Baucom (Amanda Hicks), brother, Dan Baucom, and two sisters, Shirley Hinson-Deese, and Brenda Rushing (Mac), two granddaughters, Bethany Baucom and Shea Griffin.
Joe proudly served his country in the U.S, Army from 1958-1960. He was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked for 10 years at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry and then was a long-distance truck driver for 25 years.
Joe was a lifelong member of Shiloh Advent Christian Church and served many years there as a deacon and trustee. He loved his church family and held fast to the promise and hope in the resurrection of our Savior.
A storyteller, Joe enjoyed visiting and talking with friends and family. He loved sharing various stories with all ages, much like his dad. His friendly nature, sense of humor and love of people was evident in his daily interactions. He was loved by and will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110.
