Joe Calvin Burt, age 87, passed away on November 19, 2025. Born in Fort Payne, Alabama, Joe lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, faithful service to his country, and dedication to his work and community.
Joe honorably served in the United States Air Force before beginning a 30-year career with Ford Motor Company. He was a resident of Streetsboro Ohio before retiring and moving to Manchester, Tennessee, where they have resided for the past 30 years. Joe was a longtime member of First Methodist Church of Manchester TN. He was an avid golfer and found many friendships on the course.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, JaNelle (Word) Burt; his daughters Victoria (Chris) Tench and Veronica Wasilewski; and his grandchildren Kaleb Tench, Justice Wasilewski, Riley Tench, Owen Tench, and Cameron Wasilewski. He dearly loved each of them and took great pride in their lives and accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel A. Burt and Flora A. (Foy) Burt; his brother, William (Billy) Burt; and his sister, Betty (Burt) Rudolph.
Joe will be remembered as a devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather, and a man of integrity, humility, and quiet strength. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be lovingly cherished by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at Manchester Funeral Home 786 McMinnville Hwy Manchester, TN 37355 on Saturday November 29, 2025. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with the service beginning at 2:00pm.
A Graveside service will be announced at a later date. Manchester Funeral Home is honored to serve the Burt family.
