Joe Allen Campbell, Jr. of Goliad, Texas entered eternal rest November 12, 2025 at the age of 82. He was born June 9, 1943 in Goliad, Texas to the late Joe Allen Campbell, Sr. and Lorraine Gottschald.
Joe was a man who found joy in lifes simple, meaningful moments. He loved spending quiet mornings on the front porch with a warm cup of coffee. He especially enjoyed saltwater fishing, as well as deer hunting, dove hunting, and traveling across the country in an RV with his wife and their two loyal dogs by his side. A proud Texas A & M alumnus, Joe carried his Aggie spirit throughout his life. He was also a proud retired DuPont employee of 37 years. Joe had a natural talent for working with his hands---whether he was building beautiful pieces of furniture, teaching his two sons how to work on vehicles or watching the sunrise on Estes Flats with his daughter and catching redfish. He was patient, skilled, and always willing to share what he knew. Joe also treasured the world of classic Westerns. He loved reading the works of Louis LAmour and could often be found watching his favorite John Wayne films. Above all, Joe will be remembered as a man of warmth and generosity. His love for the outdoors, his family, and the simple pleasures of life shaped a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He was an amazing father and even more amazing grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Lucy Fox; stepfather, Paul W. Gottschald.
Leaving to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Sally Townsend Campbell; daughter, Jeanne Brandes; sons, Allen Campbell, Steven Campbell; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; along with numerous other family members and friends.
Donations may be made to Hospice of South Texas in Victoria.
A Celebration of Life will be done with family and close friends at a later date.
