With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joe Carl Edwards, who left this world on July 2, 2024, in Byron, Georgia. Born on June 20, 1943, in Louisville, Kentucky, Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Joe's family roots ran deep with the late Carl B. Edwards and Mary E. Edwards, his cherished parents. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn Edwards; his children, Brandon Chapman, Troy Edwards, and Tammy Stephens; and siblings Barry Edwards, Joyce Edwards, and Joan Burk. Joe also leaves behind his bonus brothers and sisters, Dennis (Janet) Jones, Linda (Mike) Lyles, and Susan (Gregg) Podwolsky. Joe was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren and the loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Ann Stubbs and brothers-in-law, Kenneth Stubbs, Charles Jones, and Walter Jones.
After a dedicated career, Joe retired from Brown & Williams, where he built strong connections and demonstrated a commendable work ethic. Known for his energetic spirit, Joe was a true family man whose kindness and vibrant energy touched everyone he met.
In his leisure time, Joe had a passion for playing in golf tournaments, embarking on fishing trips, and testing his luck at Black Jack. He especially enjoyed traveling to Biloxi, where he created many cherished memories.
Although the ceremony will be private, Joe's legacy will be carried forward by those who knew and loved him. While we mourn his passing, we celebrate his remarkable life and the indelible impact he made on all of us.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to express their condolences through gentle acts of kindness and remembrance in Joe's honor.
Rest in peace, Joe Carl Edwards. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
