Met Joe at Brentwood skating rink playing roller hockey. Thought an awful lot of Joe and admired his calm demeanor for he was a big, big man. Always thought of Joe as a gentle giant among men. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Met Joe over 50 years ago in the military. Although we served together a few times we really became close after we both retired. I considered him one of my best friends and I will miss him so. He was a remarkable guy.
