FORT WORTH - Joe Contreras Gonzales, 71, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother passed away March 18, 2025. He was born September 12, 1953, in Austin, Texas to Marcelino and Altagracia Gonzalez.
Funeral Mass: 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 26, 2025 in St. Mary of the Assumption, 509 W. Magnolia Ave., Fort Worth, TX., 76104. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park.
Rosary: 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in Greenwood Live Oak Chapel, 3100 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX., 76107
Joe was born in Austin, TX., but spent most of his life in Fort Worth. He attended Carter Riverside High School. Joe met the love of his life, Linda, and would have been celebrating their 50th anniversary on June 22 of this year. He retired from the City of Fort Worth where he proudly worked in the street division as a crew leader. Joe enjoyed playing softball, loved riding his motorcycle, his Dallas cowboys, and loved Tejano and country music.
Joe was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 47 years, Linda Gonzales; his parents; and sister, Mary Helen Murillo.
He is survived by his children, Jenetta Gonzalez and husband, Tomas, JoAnn Rubio and husband, Marco Antonio and Joe Gonzales, Jr. and wife, Jasmine; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
