Joe Gurley Obituary
He is preceded in death by his children: Bridgette Gurley Carlton, Barry Lyn Gurley, and Rebecca Gurley Rice; parents: Linton Lee Gurley and Madge Porter Whitworth Gurley; and siblings: Johnny Gurley, Frank Gurley, Dwain Gurley, Alvin "Buster" Gurley, Bobby Gurley, Kathryn Wells, Betty Duncan, and Leon Thomason; and wife, Ann Stovall Gurley.
Survivors include his son-in-law, Marc Carlton of Elberton; grandchildren: Christopher, Clay, Breanna, and Cory; four great-grandchildren; sisters: Shirley Green of Bowersville and Helen Terry of Clemson, SC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The youngest of eleven children, Joe was a graduate of Hart County High School and a member of Cross Roads Baptis Church. He was an excellent mechanic and loved to race and work on cars. A man of great artistic ability, Joe loved to draw and paint.
Memorial services celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, October 23, at 3 o'clock at Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Sean Payne and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.
