Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home on Nov. 20, 2025.
Joe Collier King, a cherished father, son, grandfather, and veteran, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, at the age of 64, in Lexington, KY. Born in the quiet town of
Paris, KY, on December 1, 1960, Joe's beginnings were humble yet joyful, and he carried that joy with him throughout his life.
After bravely serving his country in the Marine Corps with a station in Okinawa, Japan, Joe returned with the same spirit of dedication that he had shown in his military service. This ethos was evident throughout his work history, where he was known as a steadfast and hardworking individual, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues.
Joe's green thumb was legendary among family and friends, a trait he proudly inherited from his father. His passion for gardening brought beauty to the world around him and joy to those who witnessed his skill. It was not just in the soil that he found peace, but also on the lush greens of the golf courses where he was a regular presence, perfecting his swing and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow golf enthusiasts.
A man of simple pleasures, Joe found comfort in the aroma of a freshly brewed cup of coffee. This love for coffee was just one of the many charming quirks that made Joe the unique and lovable person he was.
Joe King is survived by his adoring mother, Margaret Wells King; his three children whom he was immensely proud of, Erica, Peyton, and Jacob; his doting grandchildren, Desiree, Rylie, Kaylee, and Braylenn; and his stepchildren who he cared for deeply, Zachary and Veronica. Each of them will carry forward his legacy of kindness, resilience, and love. His constant companion, his cat Slim.
Preceding him in death were his father, Harold "Bugs" Collier King, who instilled in Joe the virtues of hard work and devotion to family, and his brother, Harold Davis King, who shared in many of his life's journeys.
Joe's life was a kaleidoscope of cherished moments, a tapestry of the love he gave and received. As we bid farewell to a man of honor and warmth, let his memory continue to inspire us to cultivate beauty in the world and to approach life with the same boundless enthusiasm he shared with us all.
Joe Collier King's enduring spirit will be greatly missed, and his legacy will forever bloom in the hearts of those he touched.
