Joe Mac Bush, 89, of Littlefield passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at home. He was born August 27, 1936, in Littlefield to Morris Shepard Bush and Fannie Malissa (Fowler) Bush.
Joe Mac graduated from Amherst High School with the Class of 1954. In 1955 he began farming, tending to countless crops and working through many harvest seasons before retiring in 2010. He also worked for Hammons Funeral Home and Littlefield Memorial Park for several years. Joe Mac also gave his time serving on Spade ISD Board of Trustees and Fieldton Co-op Gin Board. Because of his love for children and sports, he helped to found the Spade Little Dribbler's Program. He served his church as a Deacon and then Elder at Spade Church of Christ, and when he moved to Littlefield he also actively served as an Elder at Crescent Park Church of Christ. Joe Mac enjoyed reading, especially Louis L'Amour books, watching John Wayne movies, playing card games and dominoes, and was very competitive. He loved people and would do anything for anyone and he never met a stranger. He was always thinking of others before himself and he loved his family and friends. Most of all, Joe Mac loved being a "Pa" to his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Holidays were his favorite time of year because he truly loved having his family together. He was also a dedicated and loving husband to his wife Marilyn Kay (Compton) Bush, who he married January 22, 1965, in Spade.
Joe Mac is survived by his wife Marilyn Bush of Littlefield; two daughters, Pamela Morgan and husband Richard of Amarillo and Patti Conley and husband Michael of Sudan; a son, Mark Stokes and wife Dianna of Hereford; five grandchildren, Jennifer Matthews (Skylar) of Amarillo, Sheena Wyseman (John), Heather Leverett (Ray), Bridget Jennings (Trevor) of Littlefield and Joseph Conley (Asia) of Sudan; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Tommy Bush of Littlefield; nieces and nephews Rhonda Weaver of Midlothian, TX, Ricky Bush of Pinehurst, TX, Donna Gale Johnson of Shallowater, Gary Lynn Herring of Amarillo, Edna Cockrell of Lake Alan Henry, TX; and numerous other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry Bush; and a sister, Rose Marie Buckner.
Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2025, at Crescent Park Church of Christ with Jim Harris officiating and Michael Conley and Brad Heffington assisting. Interment will follow in Littlefield Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the New Mexico Children's Home (1356 FM 236 Portales, NM 88130). The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Littlefield.
