Joe Morgan, Jr., a beloved family man and a dedicated worker, passed away on July 9, 2025, at Well's Hospice Center in Hazard, Kentucky. He was 76 years old. He was born on August 9, 1948, in Leslie County, Kentucky. Joe led a life marked by hard work and passion, exemplifying what it meant to be a devoted coal truck driver, log truck driver, and auto mechanic.
Joe's career was characterized by his commitment to his work and his strong work ethic. He was known for his skills in mechanics and his love of muscle cars, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with many. He had an enduring passion for NASCAR, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite driver, which added to his vibrant personality and interests.
In addition to his professional life, Joe was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed squirrel and grouse hunting. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Joe's family was the heart of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He is survived by his son, Joe Morgan, III; daughters, Barbara Lewis and Jackie; Brittany Baker and Pat; sister, Rose Helen Morgan; and a legacy of grandchildren, including Michael King, Phillip King, Wolfgang Moore, Cullen Pennington, Landon Lewis, Daniel Morgan, Christian Morgan, Erynn Morgan, and Hagan Morgan. Joe was also the proud grandfather of eight great-grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends will remember him fondly, reflecting the impact he made on so many lives.
Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Jane Morgan, and his son, David Allen Morgan. His parents, Elisha Morgan and Dallie Smith Morgan, and siblings, Gene Morgan, Billy Ray Morgan, Michael Morgan, Russell Morgan, William Morgan, Henry Morgan, and Ulee Morgan, have also passed before him.
Joe Morgan, Jr. will be remembered not only for his contributions to his profession but also for his unwavering love for his family, his passion for life, and the cherished memories he created throughout his years. His spirit will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who knew him.
