Joseph R. Sanchez, lovingly known as Joe, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2026, in
Titusville, Florida. He was 86 years old.
Joe was born on March 6, 1939, in Bronx, New York, to Josephine and Raul Sanchez. He later made his home in Florida, where he spent his later years surrounded by family and friends who loved him deeply.
Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy, retiring after a distinguished career with the Fleet Training Group as a Chief Petty Officer (E-8). Following his military service, he continued his professional career with United Space Alliance, retiring as an LPS Maintenance Manager, contributing to the nation's space program with dedication, leadership, and integrity.
Joe will be remembered for his steady presence, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to his family. He valued loyalty, hard work, and time spent with those he loved. Above all, he was a loving husband, Dad, and Papa, and a source of guidance, pride, and unconditional love to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine and Raul Sanchez, and his sisters Carmen (Julio) Piniella and Lydia Corsano.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandra Sanchez; his daughters Anita (Mark) McGee, Carrie (Robert) Jones, and Carla (Lee) Johnson; his sisters Elaine Aulicino and Eve (Don) Gordon; his grandchildren Megan (Justin) Rice, Micayla McGee, Madison (Wyatt) Chappell, Zackary (Jessica) Johnson, Mason (Taylor) Jones, Mallory Jones, Malachi Jones, Jake (Braelyn) Johnson, and Max Jones; and his great-grandchildren Sadie, Vivian, Clara, Olivia, and Waylon.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at 3:30pm. Services will follow the visitation and will be held at 4:00pm at North Brevard Funeral Home.
Interment will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Monday, February 2 at 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to the
Wounded Warrior Project (
WWP) in honor of Joe's lifelong service and dedication to his country.
Joe's legacy lives on through the generations of family he loved so deeply and through a life defined by service, leadership, and love.
