Joe Walter Saxton, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 30, 2025.

Joe was born in Yazoo County, Mississippi on February 24, 1932. He was preceded in

death by his parents Lawrence Andrew Saxton and Lula Harper Saxton, three older

brothers, two older sisters, two younger brothers, and his middle son Jeffery Harold

Saxton.

The family farm was sold in 1945 and the family moved to South Mississippi. Joe

finished High-school at Centreville, Mississippi. He joined the US Air force in December

1951 and served active duty until 1955 including as a Flight Engineer in Europe for two

years. He also served some reserve time.

Afterward He met Kathrine Lollar and she became his life long friend and wife. They had

5 children together. Joe W. Saxton, Jr (Buddy)(Karen Lofton), Jeffery Harold Saxton

(Karen Davis), Sonya Kay Saxton, Tamora Saxton Pope (Burton Pope), Mitchell Saxton

(Lisa Raynor-Keck).

He was a proud graduate of Mississippi State University with a degree in Engineering

which he completed in 1961 after only three years. He worked for NASA for a time and

as a project engineer in the Paper Mill industry until his retirement in 2002.

Joe leaves behind a legacy of a loving wife of 68 years, 4 children and spouses, 11

grandchildren and spouses, 32 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, as well

as a myriad of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Charlet Funeral home in Zachary, Louisiana on Saturday,

October 4, 2025 from 10-12. The service will immediately follow.

A graveside service will be held at Azalea Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana following the

service.

Dr. Eddie Wren from First Baptist of Zachary will perform the service.
