Joe Touchstone passed away at 2:25 PM on Saturday, November 25th in San Marcos, Texas. Joe was born Joe Robert Touchstone in Big Spring, Texas on June 25th, 1940, the son of Grady Touchstone and Shirley Moore-Touchstone. Joe graduated from Abilene High School and shortly thereafter joined the United States Marine Corps. Joe lived in Lubbock, Texas for many years pursuing opportunities in personal financial risk management. Known by family and friends by his snappy humor and witty charm, Joe always uplifted those around him with a laugh. Joe loved football and had a love-hate relationship with the Dallas Cowboys.
Joe was an avid lover of golf and always had a supportive recommendation for those trying to learn the game. 'Advancing the ball' was his supportive anecdotal remark to those he mentored and coached in the game in response to a sloppy shank or slice. Joe was a loving father and grandfather and leaves behind his beloved family; daughters Stacie Latimer, husband Tom Latimer, Tracy Avent, husband Toby Avent and his son Michael Touchstone as well as his grandchildren, Erica, Tommy, Sydney, Taylor, Courtney, Kimbra, Tanner and 11 wonderful great grandchildren. Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Moore-Touchstone, father, Grady Touchstone and sister, Ladonna Touchstone-Bennett.
A Memorial service is being planned and will be announced later. In lieu of flowers the family encourages you to donate to the Canyon Lake Community Resource and Recreation Center located here: https://www.crrcofcanyonlake.org/donate/ To Joe: Advancing the Ball
