Joe C. Turner, age 90, passed away peacefully at home on May 31, 2025. As a devoted man of God, he lived a life full of faith, love, wisdom, and was known for his signature sense of humor. His unwavering support and kind spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Born on December 15, 1934, in Lawrence County Tennessee to John Q. Turner and Georgia Adell Turner. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Navy before dedicating a long and honorable career in civil service. He retired after 35 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Even in retirement, Joe continued to serve his community, spending 14 years as a beloved school bus driver for the Ozark School District.
Joe's life was centered around faith and family. If the church doors were open, you could count on Joe to be there. He was a devoted grandfather, never missing a ball game, and always offering encouragement and love. In his free time, he found joy in gardening, woodworking, and was an avid reader.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances Marie Turner, parents, John and Adell Turner, and his sister Patricia Ann Smith.
He is survived by his sister Sue Bevis; along with her 3 sons, his children Sue Farris, Wynona Wallace and husband Greg, Secunda Jenkins and husband Roy, Lorrie Kivett and husband Jimmy and Greg Turner; his grandchildren Krista, Kyle, and Kelbi Kivett, Melissa and Joey Farris, Derek and Ashley Spradling, David and Katie Spradling, Hunter Jenkins, Matthew and Hunter Wallace; and his great-grandchildren Kason, Braden, Bella, Bailey, Bently, Johnathan, Braxton, Isaiah, Nala, Abigail, Chloe, Emily, Savannah, Rowan and Baird.
Following Joe's wishes a celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 22, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at 405 Oak Lane, Branson, Missouri, no formal services are planned. Cremation under the care and direction of Barnes Family Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Online condolences may be shared at www.barnesfamilyfunerals.com.
