Joe David Walker

Joe David Walker, 80, of Jackson, Michigan, passed away on February 17, 2026, at Henry Ford-Jackson Hospital. Joe's family and friends will gather from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, and Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Eineder Funeral Homes – Michigan Center Chapel, with Pastor Jeff Sheeks officiating. Burial will take place Monday, March 2, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., at Fort Custer National Cemetery – 5163 Fort Custer Dr, Augusta, MI.

Joe was born on October 28, 1945, in Nashville, Tennessee, to Soloman and Irma (Hendricks) Walker. After graduating from Parkside H.S. in Jackson, Joe served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Navy. He then met the love of his life, Deborah Leigh Sawyer, during college and they were married on February 10, 1973, at St Paul's Episcopal Church in Jackson, Michigan. They enjoyed 53 years together. Joe had many hobbies throughout his life, including collecting trains, working on computers, sewing and cooking. He loved photography, with quite an extensive knowledge of it. He liked to travel and once he designed a house. He had a loyal companion in his dog, Lady. However, Joe's greatest joy was his family. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Joe will be greatly missed by his wife, Deborah; his children, Laura (David) Whaley, David Walker, Brian (Bri) Walker and Michael Walker; grandchildren, Shaun, Alexa, Taylor, Blake, Mackenzie, Leo, Paisley, Hunter, Leigh'Ann, Brooke, Dom and Octavia; and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Soloman and Irma Walker; and his infant sister, Shirley Ann Walker.
