SIGOURNEY-Joel Gonzaga, Jr., age 37, of Sigourney, died Monday, April 17, 2023, at his home.
Joel was born November 21, 1985, in Bacolod City, Philippines, to Joel and Merle (Tamera) Gonzaga. He graduated from NOHS Special Science Class High School. He then went to College at Technological University of the Philippines and Notre Dame of Marbel. He worked in consumer affairs while living in the Philippines. On January 31, 2017, he married Ma. Inmaculada D. Muñoz in the Philippines. Joel then moved to Keosauqua before they moved to Sigourney in 2021. Joel worked at Wal-Mart as a stocker and in the electronics department.
Survivors include his wife: Ma. Inmaculada Gonzaga and son: Matteo Gonzaga, both of Sigourney; parents and brother: Jomer Gonzaga, all of the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the Sigourney United Methodist Church, with Pastor Cathy Nutting officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday.
A memorial fund has been established to help with funeral costs. Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Sigourney is caring for Joel and his family. Tributes may be made at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
