Joel Van Hook Rodriguez

Joel Van Hook Rodriguez, of Moore, passed away far too soon on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the age of 28. He was born on March 28, 1996, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Joel Zavala Rodriguez and Harriet V. Van Hook.
Joel was a kind and loving man. He was so much fun to be around. Joel loved taking his younger siblings Javon and Destiny, and his nieces Ema and Lyli to do special things such as going swimming and to the movies. He loved spending time with them, and they were all crazy about him. Joel was a genuine person and loved to have fun and hang out with his family and his friends. He loved spending time with his grandparents that lived in Mexico and had the utmost respect and admiration for them.
Joel always had a smile on his face. He loved to sing and play basketball. He was a huge OKC Thunder fan and was extremely proud of a picture he had taken with Kevin Durant. His favorite food was Wing Stop, and the hotter the better.
Joel was a very hard worker and was employed at Amazon. He had such a giving heart and was always helping his family without them even asking for it. Joel was an amazing person, and he touched the lives of many – he will be deeply missed.
Joel leaves to cherish his memory, his mother, Harriet Van Hook, of Moore; 4 siblings, Gabriela "Gaby" Rodriguez, of Moore, Isabela "Bela" Rodriguez, of Moore, Javon Hall, of Moore, and Destiny Hall, of Moore; 2 nieces, Ema Hayes, of Moore and Lyli Woods, of Moore; step-father, Justin Hall, of Moore; grandparents, Salvador Rodriguez & Ma Guadalupe Zavala, of Mexico; aunt, Lupita Rodriguez, of Mexico; and a host of other family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joel Rodriguez; grandma, Gloria Zuniga; great-grandma, Daisy Hamilton.
Visitation will be held from 12:00pm-8:00pm, on Friday, August 16, 2024, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel of Capitol Hill, located at 3228 S. Western Ave., in Oklahoma City. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00pm, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel of Capitol Hill. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
