Joel Frank Locke, age 76, passed away on August 14, 2025, in his hometown of Dublin, Georgia. Born on August 22, 1948, to the late James William Locke and Julia Purvis Locke, Joel's life was one marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a legacy of warmth and humor that will be cherished by all who knew him.

A proud graduate of Dudley High School, Joel went on to honorably serve his nation as a member of the United States Army. His dedication to his country was matched only by his commitment to his community, where he worked as a skilled electrician at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center until his retirement. Joel's work ethic and expertise were recognized by all who worked alongside him, and his contributions to the facility have left a lasting impact.

Joel's life was a testament to the values of love and family. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Scott Locke (Carrie) of Dublin and Ricky Phillips of Wrightsville; daughters, Rachel Phillips of Bonaire and Rebecca Phillips of Dublin; and his beloved grandchildren, Riley Cameron (Landon), Nolan Locke, Miranda Crabtree, and Raina Crabtree.

He is also survived by his brother, Eddie "Buddy" Locke (Abbie); sisters, Karen Price (David) and Susie Little (Larry); brother-in-law, Ralph Jones; sisters-in-law, Nell Locke and Gay Grimes; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Joel was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Locke, Silas Locke, and Jimmy Grimes; and sisters, Judy Jones, Mary Bond, Emily Grimes, and Jane Bridges.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Dublin. Rev. Don Hicks will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 10:00 AM until the service hour at the church.
