Joel Daniel Lutz

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic loss of Joel Daniel Lutz, who leaves behind a beloved wife and four adored children. Born in Minnesota in 1975, Joel led with faith through the many aspects of his life.

In his initial career, he was a successful electrical engineer working for automobile companies around the world, spending time and forging relationships over the years in Michigan, South Korea, Ohio, China and Germany. While overseas he immersed himself in local communities, studying languages and learning the cultures and customs to better understand the people he met and inevitably impacted with his generosity of spirit. In addition to his technical work, Joel participated in many faith communities globally, which inspired the next chapter in his working life: fostering the inclusion of lay-people in international faith-based communities.

After over 10 years in Germany, Joel and Jenni decided to move their family to North Carolina, where they resided near family and friends while cultivating Joel's inspired mission. Joel used his deep curiosity and easy charm to bring together people from all backgrounds in peace, helping others to recognize the splendor of the world.

Joel will be deeply missed by his wife Jenni; and his four treasured children, twins Ellery and Rhea, Zoe, and Josiah; his parents, Pastor Michael and Elizabeth Lutz; and his siblings John, Jeremy, and Jaime and their families, as well as countless friends and colleagues.

The absence of Joel from all of our lives leaves an unfathomable void, but those who were closest to him have lost their spiritual North Star, ever-present friend and cheerful champion.
