Joel A. Lytle Joel passed on October 31, 2025, in Temple, Texas at the age of 71 years. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on November 9, 1953. After graduating from Avon (Ohio) High School in 1972, Joel enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served for six years until 1978. In 1974, Joel married Christine. Together they raised two children, Camille and Joel. 1978 Joel entered Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, Kentucky, followed by Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Kansas City, Missouri, where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. Joel's first pastorate was with First Baptist Church in Stover, Missouri, then received his commission in the U.S. Army in 1989. While in the Army he served with distinction, in the Middle East wars, South Korea, Schoefield Barracks in Hawaii, and Bamberg, Germany. Joel was medically retired from the Army in 2010 and finished his days in Harker Heights, Texas. Joel was preceded in death by his son Joel Timothy, his parents Ruth and Fred Thuemling, his brother Tom Thuemling, and many beloved relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Christine, his daughter Camille (James) Crowder, two grandsons, Liam and Devin, and brothers Jon Lytle and George Thuemling.
