Joel L. "Piggy Joe" Saikin

Joel L. "Piggy Joe" Saikin, age 81, of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away at home on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. He was born on November 5, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Samuel and Minnie (Hussman) Saikin.

Joel is survived by his daughter, Christine Bucy; son, Joey (Norma Manguba-Negron) Saikin; two granddaughters, Rebekah Terry, Tori (Brandon) Allard; two grandsons, Maxwell Lange, Kyle Bucy; two great-granddaughters, Natalie Terry, Caroline Allard; great-grandson, Tyler Terry; brother, Bertram Saikin; and many nieces, nephews, and many friends that were like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheila Lyndell Saikin; and brother, Leslie Saikin.

Joel was a jack of all trades and a master of many. He loved music, family, and friends. Joel retired following 47 years of service in the Steel Industry. His passion was recording videos of music he loved and sharing them with everyone. Joel loved barbeques and get togethers, traveling the country, and he was a Christian man and a true patriot. He loved life to its fullest.

Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
