A much loved husband, son, brother, and uncle, James (Jim) Conyne, age 77, of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025, after a long illness.
Jim is survived by his wife, Maribeth (King) Conyne; sister, Carol (Richard) Rescigno; best friend and fur baby, Lucy, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert H. Conyne; mother, Dorothy Conyne and beloved pets, Stella, Maddie, Molly, Tux and Murphy.
Maribeth and Jim were the owners of a popular retail store, The Regal Rabbit, in Chesterton, IN. and enjoyed meeting and making many friends over the years. Prior to the retail experience, Jim spent 31 years in the casino business in Reno, NV, Joliet, IL and Northwest Indiana, where he made many lifelong friends.
Jim was raised in a military family and resided at many US Army installations, spending his high school years in the Panama Canal zone. Jim earned his Bachelors degree and went on to serve in the United States Army where he received two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars among many other commendations.
Visitation for family and friends is Saturday, September 27th, from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Burial to follow on Monday, September 29th, at 12:00 pm sharp, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.

Procession Gathering Location: Silver Dollar Banquet: 422 E. Mississippi Ave., Elwood, IL 60421
• We will gather just north of the cemetery, at the Silver Dollar Banquet parking lot. Take Route 53 South of I-80 to Mississippi Ave. and turn right. The entrance to the Silver Dollar is on your left. Address is 422 E. Mississippi Ave. If you want to be part of the procession, arrive before 11:15 as we will leave at 11:20 SHARP.
• If you miss the gather location & time, the entrance to the cemetery is at 53 & Hoff Road. Do not miss it! 53 is under construction and it will be 7 miles before you can turn around back north.

GENERAL DIRECTIONS TO THE AREA:
o For anyone north of I-80, it's best to take 80 west toward Joliet. Take exit #132 (Illinois Routes 52/53 south). As 52 & 53 split, remain on 53 south toward Elwood.
o For anyone south of I-80, it's best to take Laraway Road west through New Lenox toward Illinois Route 53. Turn left on 53 heading south toward Elwood. Continue south of Laraway Road, passing Chicagoland Speedway & Manhattan Road. You'll see numerous signs directing to the Cemetery.
