Henry Saikin (1938-2023) passed away in his sleep at the age of 84. Henry will be remembered as a kind, unique soul. He loved watching movies, sports, and singing in The New Tradition chorus. An avid book and art collector, Henry had enough experiences to fill ten lifetimes.
He attended New Trier High School, before attending the University of Oklahoma and the University of Illinois. In his youth, Henry was an excellent speed skater and also played ice hockey. At age 18, he enlisted in the Marine Corps where he trained at Twentynine Palms in Southern California. He was always proud of his service to his country, but remained humble about his work throughout his life. Henry supported many charitable foundations in the Chicagoland area, particularly soup kitchens and food banks.
He traveled all over the world with trips to Thailand, China, Europe, and more, and even had a memorable journey on the famous Orient Express. Above all, Henry loved making others laugh and smile, and he certainly achieved that. On his passing, a good friend of his said that "it was a gift to know Henry". For those lucky enough to be a part of his life, Henry will forever be remembered for his kindness and endless happy memories he helped create.
Henry leaves behind his son Jason Ryan Saikin and three granddaughters, Hunter Patricia Saikin, Ava Josephine Saikin and Lila Mary Saikin.
Services and Interment will be private.
