Joel L. Schleifer passed away at the age of 84, on June 30, 2025.
Joel was born in June of 1941, graduated from Gibbon High School in 1959, and moved to Columbia Heights, MN where he attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis. Starting in 1963, he served in the United States Air Force as a Rescue and Evacuation Flight Medic during the Vietnam war and continued as an Air Force reservist for six years until 1969. He worked as a Machinist at Metro Machine until retirement in 2003. He owned and managed multiple rental properties in MN and FL for many years. He also had a renowned rose garden for several decades at his house in Richfield. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merlin and Bernice.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; children, Jonathan (Tammy) and David (Jennifer); and grandson, Grayson.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8 at 11AM with visitation one hour prior at Mount Hope Lutheran Church (3601 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington, MN). Another opportunity for visitation will be held in Wisconsin at Knollwood Memorial Park (1500 WI-310, Manitowoc) on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11AM until the time of service at Noon. The family would appreciate memorials to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Mount Hope Lutheran Church.
