It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Joel Young Sr., who departed this life on June 5, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on January 30, 1960, Joel was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth and spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Joel is survived by his wife, Laurie Young, with whom he shared countless cherished memories. He was the proud father of Jessica Young and JT (Amy) Young, and a devoted grandfather to his three grandchildren, Boston Young, Oakley Young, and Kaldi Young. Joel held a special bond with his siblings, Kris Young, Nancy (Jon) Pais, his brother-in law, Ron Breen; his sister-in-law, Tammy Breen, as well as a host of other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Joel were aware of his great love for life. He found immense joy in spending time with his dogs, sharing laughter with his family, and enjoying the simple pleasures life had to offer. A lover of reading and sports, Joel was a passionate supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Blues. He eagerly followed NASCAR racing, always ready to cheer for his favorite drivers. Music was also a significant part of his world, with Taylor Swift's songs bringing joy to his days.
In addition to his hobbies, Joel was a proud lifetime member of the painters union, a testament to his dedication and hard work throughout his life. He loved warmth and the beach, often spending leisurely afternoons listening to the radio in his garage, where the sound of his favorite shows would echo in the air.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kirby Young, and his mother, Lila Young, who undoubtedly watched over him with love from above.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joel's life at the Newcomer Funeral Home in St. Peters, Missouri, where visitation will take place on June 19, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.
Joel Young Sr. will forever be remembered for his love, kindness, and the legacy he leaves behind. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Joel was an organ donor, many of which will help others, one of his organs is going to save the life of a five year old boy.
