Joey Gabriel Chavez (Gordo) 50, a lifelong resident of Espanola, NM. He passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Joey was preceded in death by his mother Edalia “Dolly” Montoya, grandparents Gabriel and Gregorita Chavez, godfather Guillermo Chavez, uncles, Herman, Anurfo, and Manuel Chavez, and Cousin Daniel Rendon.
Gabe loved fishing and going to the mountains looking for Bigfoot, but he especially loved his niece Lexi, nephew Junebug, and great nephews Austin and Aiden, and grandchildren Angel’Leo, Augustin, Elyanah, and Andres. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends and all of those who knew and loved him.
Joey is survived by his companion of 16 years Cindy Lopez, son Dominic Chavez, step-daughters Sativa, Esperanza, and Kayla, grandchildren Angel’Leo, Augustin, Elyanah, and Andres, father Ben Montoya, sister Dolores Trujillo, Niece Lexi Martinez and companion Dominic Layden, nephew Nathanial Trujillo and wife Angelica Trujillo, great nephews Austin and Aiden, Godmother Leonires Chavez, Aunt and uncle Zennie and Abel Rendon, plus many other cousins, relatives, and close friends.
Services are on Monday December 2nd, 2024 at 10:00am at New Hope Church In El LIano, NM.
