Joey Sanders Obituary

Joey was a hard worker and a dedicated family man. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, classic cars and racing. He also enjoyed visiting with his family and supporting his grandchildren in all their events. He was a master diesel mechanic. Family meant the world to him. He loved them all and cherished all the times he spent with them. He loved Jesus and attended Branches of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; three children, Sarita (Jerry) Westerfield, Darryl (Loni) Sanders and Joey (Phoebe) Sanders, III; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Matt) Helsel, Michael (Jackie) Westerfield, Derek (Desia) Westerfield, Danielle (Kyler) Blake, Josh (Jessica) Sanders, Britnee Sanders, Des (Dan) Swenson and Dustin Sanders; fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers Andy, Roger, Jerry and three sisters, Delorse, Dolly and Mary Lou. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dave, Bruce and Don; a sister, Betty and grandson, Jacob Sanders.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Covington Memorial Funeral Home, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46804. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home; Pastor Jerry Westerfield will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately in Covington Memorial Gardens.
