Johann (Hannes) Furlan of Platteville, Wisconsin died on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at home. Hannes was born in Villach, Austria to Auguste and Josef Furlan. He stared his career as an apprentice in hotel and catering in Villach, Austria. Soon after, Hannes had the opportunity to join Royal Viking Cruise Line where he eventually became hotel manager for the fleet of ships. It was there where he met and married his wife, Connie SaLoutos Furlan. After leaving life at sea, he took the position of Director of Hotel Operations in San Francisco. When the line moved its headquarters to Miami, he became Director of Reservations. Later in his career, he became Vice President of Hotel Operations for Cunard Cruise Line in New York City, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Chess Communications Group in Baltimore, MD, and Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Versient in Hunt Valley, MD.
Hannes is survived by his wife, Connie; his daughter, Claudia (Gunther) Andre, two brothers, Josef (Hermi) Furlan and Rainer (Gudrun) Furlan; two sisters, Gusti Neidhart and Monika Furlan; his sister-in-law Kathy (Gary) Curtis, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Annamiadle Leitgeb and Margit (Sigi) Stubinger; and one brother, Walter (Hilde) Furlan.
Hannes treasured his friends and family. His big laugh and even bigger heart will always be remembered and missed.
